Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Oslo, Norway

Arrive in Oslo and transfer to your hotel, with time to take in Norway's capital at the head of its fjord. Gather in the evening to meet your fellow travellers and the expedition team.

Day 2 Fly to Longyearbyen, embark

Board a charter flight north to Longyearbyen, the main settlement of Svalbard, ringed by mountains and glaciers. Explore the town before you embark your ship and sail out into the Arctic light.

Days 3 - 15 Exploring Svalbard, Jan Mayen, East Greenland and Iceland's Westfjords

The long heart of the voyage, exploring three Arctic worlds as ice and weather allow. In Svalbard the ship follows the ice in search of polar bears and walrus, nosing into fjords beneath calving glaciers under the midnight sun. Striking out across the Greenland Sea, you reach Jan Mayen, a lonely volcanic island crowned by the ice-capped cone of Beerenberg, the northernmost active volcano on earth, where a landing is a rare privilege. Beyond lies the east coast of Greenland and Scoresby Sund, the largest fjord system in the world, a labyrinth of icebergs and sheer mountains explored by Zodiac and on foot, with musk oxen ashore and perhaps a call at the tiny Inuit settlement of Ittoqqortoormiit. The voyage ends among the green cliffs and eider colonies of Iceland's Westfjords, calling at Isafjordur and the little farmed island of Vigur. Throughout, the daily schedule stays flexible, shaped by the ice, the weather and the wildlife.

Day 16 Reykjavik, disembark

Sail into Reykjavik, disembark after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
