Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Calgary, Canada

Your Arctic expedition begins in Calgary. Explore this vibrant city on your own before you spend the night at your designated hotel.

Day 2 Fly to Resolute and Embark

This morning, board the charter flight to Resolute, Nunavut. Upon arrival, take the opportunity to explore this small hamlet on foot before being transferred to the ship via Zodiac or helicopter, depending on the ship’s location and weather conditions

Day 3 - 10 Explorer Canada’s High Arctic

Cruising the remote islands of the Canadian High Arctic aboard Ultramarine, the newest ship in the fleet, you’ll navigate the icy inlets and bays that fascinated legendary explorers. Designed for unparalleled access to the hardest-to-reach places and equipped with two onboard helicopters, this ship offers a unique polar exploration experience. The Expedition Team will immerse you in the Arctic’s best, including Canada’s most northerly islands: Axel Heiberg Island and Ellesmere Island.

Every expedition is unique, with no fixed itinerary due to varying weather and ice conditions. The team will select daily activities such as Zodiac cruising, land excursions, and wildlife viewing, including using helicopters for spectacular aerial views.

Travel through the ancestral homelands of the Inuit, guided by local experts who share their rich culture and history. Nunavut, meaning “our land,” is home to the resourceful and hospitable Nunavummiut people.

The goal is to reach the remote Ellesmere Island, with its soaring peaks, deep fjords, and massive ice shelves. Axel Heiberg Island, with its dramatic Piedmont glaciers, offers opportunities to spot snow buntings, ptarmigans, jaegers, and arctic terns.

Wildlife sightings are likely, with chances to see polar bears, muskoxen, gyrfalcons, dovekies, and possibly narwhals or arctic wolves. Coburg Island and Prince Leopold Island are prime bird-watching sites, while Arctic Bay offers a glimpse into Inuit culture.

Devon Island hosts walrus, polar bears, and muskoxen, along with an old RCMP outpost. Explore the Devon ice cap or visit historical sites like the Hudson’s Bay Company trading post at Fort Ross and the Franklin expedition gravesite on Beechey Island.

Cruise along active glaciers, listening to the crackle and roar of calving ice. Watch for walrus and enjoy the natural beauty, wildlife, and history of Canada’s High Arctic, from tundra flora to ancient Thule dwellings. Each day brings new discoveries in this rugged environment.

Day 11 Disembark in Resolute and Fly to Calgary

Disembark in Resolute and transfer to your charter flight to Calgary, where you will spend the night at the group hotel.

Day 12 Depart Calgary

Today, make your way to the airport to catch your homeward flights, or spend the day exploring this unique Canadian city.
