Day 1 Fly Paris to Longyearbyen, Svalbard

Take the group flight from Paris high into the Arctic to Svalbard. Transfer to your ship for embarkation in the late afternoon.

Longyearbyen, the capital of the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago, is the world’s northernmost territorial capital. The glaciers, the mountains stretching as far as the eye can see and the untouched nature, make you feel like you’re in completely unexplored territory.

Day 2 At Sea along the Spitsbergen coast

Spitsbergen, the largest island in the Svalbard archipelago, translates to “pointed mountains” in German and is the final land before the Arctic ice floe. Sail along its stunning coastline, featuring millennia-old glaciers and rugged mountains, and explore a unique landscape rich in birdlife—perfect for capturing breathtaking photographs from the ship’s deck.

Days 3 - 7 Navigating through Sea Ice

Enjoy an absolutely unique adventure sailing to the heart of the ice floe, a pristine expanse of untouched ice. Experience shifting landscapes, from smooth wilderness to chaotic ice and open water channels. The ship navigates these natural pathways, offering magical maritime moments amid drifting sea ice, with chances to spot wildlife reliant on the ice floe. Spend your time photographing the magnificent scenery and wildlife, relaxing the wellness areas and learning about the rich wildlife and history of this region from the onboard experts.

Day 8 Geographic North Pole

The Geographic North Pole, at 90° North latitude, sits on the Earth’s axis where all meridians converge. Shrouded in darkness for half the year and basking in sunlight for the other half, this icy, remote wilderness has captivated explorers for generations. Now, this extraordinary adventure can be yours aboard Le Commandant Charcot.

Days 9 - 13 Navigating through Sea Ice

Returning South, witness changing landscapes and light, from tranquil wilderness to turbulent ice and open water channels. Capture stunning scenery and wildlife, unwind in wellness areas, and continue to delve into the rich wildlife and history of this region with insights from onboard experts.
