Day-by-day Itinerary

Day 1 Fly Paris to Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen

Take the group flight from Paris high into the Arctic to Longyearbyen. Transfer to your ship for embarkation in the late afternoon.  Longyearbyen, the capital of the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago, is located on Svalbard’s main island and holds the title of the northernmost territorial capital on the planet. With winter temperatures plummeting below -40°C, the landscapes of this mining town are simply breathtaking. The glaciers, expansive mountains, and untouched nature make you feel as if you are in completely unexplored territory.

Day 2 - 5 North West Spitsbergen and Ny-Alesund

Experience the contrasts and natural wonders of northwest Spitsbergen, a realm of breathtaking beauty. Explore pristine fjords, jagged mountains, and imposing glaciers, all sculpted by nature. Journey aboard Zodiacs with knowledgeable guides and keep your eye out for unique wildlife, including majestic polar bears, whales, playful seals, and wandering reindeer. Visit Ny-Ålesund, a historic mining town turned scientific base, famed for its Arctic expeditions, including those by explorer Roald Amundsen. Don’t miss the renowned museum and the world’s northernmost post office!

Day 6 - 7 At Sea

Experience unforgettable moments aboard Le Commandant Charcot, the world’s first luxury polar exploration vessel and the first PC2-class polar cruise ship designed to navigate the heart of the ice, reaching seas and oceans that ordinary ships cannot access. Equipped with cutting-edge oceanographic and scientific tools, guests can engage in lectures and discussions with experts to deepen their understanding of the poles. Join the crew in advancing scientific research and uncover the mysteries of these captivating destinations together.

Day 8 Jan Mayen Island, Svalbard

Jan Mayen, a hidden Norwegian island off Greenland, lies between the Arctic and North Atlantic Oceans. Only a few meteorologists inhabit this remote land, where icy tongues descend from its 2,227-metre volcanic summit, flanked by black and red volcanic rocks. On a clear day, the stunning summit shines, and you might even spot a fin whale.

Day 9 - 10 Ittoqqortoormiit Region

On the East coast of Greenland, in the Ittoqqortoormiit region, adventurers can explore stunning, isolated landscapes. The village, one of the most remote inhabited places, features colourful houses that contrast with the arid surroundings. The striking alpine mountains rise against the sky, while Scoresby Sound, the world’s longest fjord system, defines the area. Immersing in this region reveals the ancestral ways of the last polar hunters, offering a deep dive into the lives of Arctic inhabitants.

Day 11 Scoresby Sund

Scoresby Sound, the largest and deepest fjord system globally at 13,700 km², opens onto the Greenland Sea. Named after explorer William Scoresby, it boasts breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and icebergs in clear, blue waters. Exploring this untouched wilderness, rich in history and beauty, evokes a deep reverence for the great explorers like Captain Charcot and the land of the Inuit.

Day 13 - 14 Isafjörður & West Fjords

The ship will venture into the stunning fjords of North-West Iceland, a rugged landscape of steep cliffs and hidden valleys. Isafjörður, nestled within its fjord and surrounded by towering mountains, is a charming fishing town with a rich maritime history, characterised by its old wooden houses, marking its past as a significant fishing port.

Day 15 Disembark in Reykjavik

On arrival in Reykjavik, disembark and make your way to the airport for your onward flight
